a small room in the city, for the hour of your week that finally isn't.
send it to whoever just came to mind. they came to mind for a reason.
introducing…
a piece of wood.
by the door sits a block of oak with a slot in it, cut to the size of a phone.
you slide it in. the screen is still lit. whatever was on its way is still on its way. it just isn't on its way to you, for an hour.
you could reach back in any time. nobody would stop you. almost nobody does. the wood, somehow, is enough.
the phone is still in there.
so are you.
a hole. in a block of wood.
i am tired of the optimised. tired of cafes that are really coworking spaces in disguise. tired of every quiet corner of this city being colonised by laptops, standups, and the low hum of someone pitching something.
donttalkwork is a small, deliberate rebellion against that. one rule, and the name says it. come in, sit across from someone you actually like, and for one hour talk about literally anything else. the city you grew up in, the book you keep meaning to finish, the friend you keep meaning to call.
this is not anti-work. work is fine. work is how you pay for the coffee. this is pro the rest of you. the version of you that exists when no one is asking what you do for a living.
an hour here is not a break from your life. it might be the most of your life you have felt in weeks.
zeel, founder. a concept, for now. first coffee on me when we open.
a concept, for now. the doors aren't open yet.
soon.
soon, after that.
send it to someone you've been meaning to know better.
non-functional, for now. when the cafe opens, this is one of the only ways in.
